The Project Management Accountant is responsible for providing administrative and clerical support to the Accounting and Contracting Department. The Project Management Accountant is also responsible for aiding in expense control through processing, verifying, and reconciling according to established policies and procedures in an efficient, timely, and accurate manner. This position requires collaboration with other employees to make sure consistent processes are being adhered to and to be a proactive communicator regarding best practices. An attitude of positivity and accountability in addition to a high level of teamwork are required to deliver the highest quality of efficiency.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare and enter weekly vendor invoices into Accounting software.
  • Project/Job Management including payment requests, job costing and budgeting.
  • Reconcile processed work by verifying entries and comparing system reports to balances.
  • Charge expenses to accounts, cost centers, and jobs by analyzing invoices and reports.
  • Verify vendors and contractor's federal ID numbers and certificates of insurance.
  • Pay vendors while monitoring discount opportunities and resolving purchase orders, contracts, invoices, and/or payment discrepancies.
  • Ensure applicable credits are received for outstanding memos and issuing stop-payments.
  • Maintain Accounting ledgers by verifying and posting account transactions.
  • Reconcile monthly credit card statements.
  • Provide accurate and effective document preparation and records management in accordance with records retention policies and procedures.
  • Performs general cost accounting and other related duties in the accounting department.
  • Prepares periodic (monthly) balance sheets, profit and loss and statements of cash flow.
  • Prepare general ledger account reconciliations including bank reconciliations, accounts payable and accounts receivable reconciliations and similar tasks.
  • Assist A/P accountant with GL coding.
  • Protect organization's value by maintaining confidentiality.
  • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.
  • Provide suggestions to management on opportunities for improved work or service.
  • Perform any other duty or assignment as may be assigned from time to time. Light administrative duties or responsibilities may be assigned.
  • Assist in weekly payroll processing.

Qualifications / Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher from an accredited college.
  • Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable experience required.
  • Microsoft Office, especially Excel, experience required.
  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  • High degree of accuracy and confidentiality required.
  • Excellent data entry skills.
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Demonstrates a sense of urgency and ability to meet deadlines while maintaining efficiency.
  • Ability to work independently while also maintaining a collaborative mindset as a team member.
  • Must be punctual and dependable.
  • Must be able to pass a background check, drug screen, and an MVR.
