Our BIMBLE department is adding a Field Engineer to our current staff!

The Field Engineer is responsible for performing on site layout, that includes locating a CAD generated point (i.e. sleeves, hangers anchors, structural opening, pads, etc.). This position is critical and seeks to utilize the highest levels of technology, construction knowledge, and standards to produce high quality layouts to increase efficiency and reduce cost. This position requires collaboration with other employees to make sure consistent processes are being adhered to and to be a proactive communicator regarding best practices. A positive attitude and accountability in addition to a high level of teamwork are required to deliver the highest quality of efficiency.

Essential functions include but are not limited to the following:

  • Ensure Trimble equipment and accessories for layout stay maintained and in good working order.
  • Prepare files for the Trimble for layout.
  • Meet with project and GC team onsite to evaluate conditions of control points and anything else needed to perform layout.
  • Collaborate with BIM department to ensure files are accurate for layout.
  • Liaison between BIM department and the on-site team as it relates to obtaining necessary information for layouts.
  • Update point files with all field conditions or changes.
  • Provide efficient and accurate layout to the field using Trimble RTS.
  • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.
  • Provide suggestions to management on opportunities for improved work or service.
  • Perform any other duty or assignment as may be assigned from time to time.

Qualifications

  • Be on the job and ready to work at the designated project start time with the ability to work whatever hours necessary to meet job requirements. Must be willing to travel in anywhere in the metro Atlanta area.
  • Maintain high levels of communication with BIM team to ensure you have accurate information.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of technologies and programs as related to your work. Understand evolving industry trends and competitive advantages as related to project layout and your field.
  • Understand the manufacturer's operation and maintenance procedures of your Trimble surveying equipment.
  • Necessary physical requirements including the ability to lift/carry up to 50 lbs, work at various heights, and work in varying weather environments normal for the Southeast.
  • Understanding of survey law and survey measurements and errors.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Must have 3-5 year's construction or surveying experience.
  • Experience with Trimble surveying equipment and Robotic Total Station. Must be capable of operating a Robotic Total Station.
  • Fluent in the Microsoft Office suite of applications.
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail are required.
  • You must be able to pass a background check, drug screen, and have a clean MVR (in order to be insured on company vehicles).
  • Punctuality and dependability are imperative.
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail are required.
  • Demonstrates a sense of urgency and ability to meet deadlines while maintaining efficiency.
  • Ability to work independently while also maintaining a collaborative mindset as a team member.

Additional skills that, while not required, would be a plus to have:

  • Preferred experience in plumbing and mechanical layout / installation.
  • 3D Scanning experience.
  • Knowledge of BIM Software.
  • Ability to review and understand contract drawings, installation drawings and specifications. Preferred experience drafting using CAD and / or Revit.
  • Understanding of electronic document exchange.General knowledge of construction process, layout process, and surveying.
  • General to specific knowledge of piping systems & HVAC systems.
  • Proficient in Trimble Field Link and Trimble RTS.

Our interview process will require that each candidate set-up and fully operate a Robotic Total Station.
